AKTU Sardar Patel 150th Jayanti: A year-long series of events has been announced across Uttar Pradesh to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, with activities planned from October 2025 to October 2026 at block, district, state and national levels. The campaign aims to strengthen the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” through cultural, educational, sports and community outreach programmes involving students, farmers, youth and officials.
AKTU’s Letter to All Affiliated Colleges
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, has written to directors and principals of all affiliated institutions, asking them to treat Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary as a year-long celebration. The university has asked every institute to appoint its own nodal officer and organise activities in line with state government and Home Department guidelines between October 2025 and October 2026.
The AKTU circular, issued by Registrar Reena Singh on 8 December 2025, refers to a letter from the Uttar Pradesh Technical Education Department dated 10 November 2025, which forwards directions from the Home (Police) Department. These directions are linked to the Government of India’s call to mark Patel’s 150th year through structured programmes across the country.

Month-Wise Activity Calendar
The programme calendar spreads activities over 12 months and multiple levels, starting from block-level outreach to state- and national-level events. Each month has a thematic focus, from student competitions and unity marches to marathons, cultural festivals and academic lectures.
- December 2025: Block and district-level padyatras, rural youth unity camps and documentary screenings in markets.
- January 2026: Farmers’ conferences on Sardar Patel’s agricultural reforms and Republic Day parades with special tableaux on Patel in districts.
- February 2026: Quiz competitions, photo exhibitions in district libraries and cleanliness drives at heritage sites.
- March–June 2026: State-level cyclothons and marathons, lecture series in universities, cultural festivals on “Patel and India’s unity”, VR tours of the Statue of Unity, and inter-district unity sports meets plus farmers’ and artisans’ exhibitions.
- July–October 2026: Inter-state student exchange camps under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Independence Day unity pledges and re-enactments of the freedom struggle, research booklets by school students on “Patel in Our State”, and state-level unity parades linked live to the Statue of Unity.
Nodal Officers Named for the Campaign
At the state and university level, specific nodal officers have been nominated to ensure smooth execution of the plan. For AKTU, different faculty members have been given month-wise responsibilities, including officials from management, pharmacy, MBA and library departments to coordinate particular sets of activities.
Similarly, the state government’s communication lists senior officials, including directors of technical education, exam councils, state universities and government engineering colleges, as recipients for necessary action. They have been asked to follow all instructions issued in the Home (Police) Department letter dated 5 November 2025 and the Government of India’s letter dated 24 October 2025.
Centre’s Push for “Ekta Diwas” and Unity Agenda
The Uttar Pradesh government’s orders attach communications from the Union Home Ministry and a letter from Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addressed to all Chief Ministers and UT Administrators. The central message is to use Patel’s 150th birth anniversary as an opportunity to reaffirm national unity, internal security and the idea of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat”.
The documents also include the official “Ekta Diwas Pledge”, to be taken on 31 October 2025 in all states and UTs, along with suggested programmes such as Run for Unity, march-pasts by police and uniformed forces, exhibitions and unity-focused events in prisons. States have been asked to treat this as a grand, participatory celebration that energises the spirit of unity and integration across all regions and institutions.
